Each year, some 700,000 guests pass through the gates of this 42 acre Zoo which features an animal collection comprised of over 1,100 specimens representing 250 species. Temple Square is Salt Lake's biggest attraction and one of the major tour sites of the West. The temple's foundation walls are 16 feet thick and 16 feet deep. The walls that rise from the foundation are nine feet thick at the base tapering to six feet at the top. The temple's highest spire, reaching 210 feet, is topped by a 12-1/2 foot statue of the Angel Moroni made of hammered copper thickly overlaid with gold leaf.

The Great Salt Lake is the largest U.S. lake west of the Mississippi River and is the 4th largest terminal lake (no outlet) in the world. It is about 75 miles long, 28 miles wide, covers 1,700 square miles and is typically 3 to 5 times saltier than the ocean.
