The Oregon Zoo, the oldest zoo west of the Mississippi, is home to animals from all corners of the world with more than 1,000 animals representing 200 species of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. Exhibits include the Africa Rainforest, the Alaska Tundra, the Great Northwest and the Amazon Flooded Forest.

One of the oldest continuously operating amusement parks in America, Oaks Amusement Park offers a host of thrill rides, intermediate rides and kids rides. The Oregon Museum of Science & Industry was founded in 1944 and is one of the nation's top ten science museums. This 219,000 square foot facility offers hundreds of interactive exhibits and hands-on demonstrations in five exhibit halls and eight science labs. Other complex features include an OMNIMAX Theater and the Northwest's largest planetarium.

The Oregon Historical Society's artifacts collection is comprised of over 85,000 pieces including objects from the earliest settlements, maritime history and the growth of business and industry. Opened in 1892, the Portland Art Museum houses more than 35,000 objects and works of art including European paintings and sculptures, Asian art, Native American art, Afrtican art, and various other sculptures, prints, drawings and photography. The museum also features a library with a collection of more than 33,000 books and a cafe to grab a bite to eat.
