Churchill Downs is one of North America's premier racing facilities, beginning its tradition as "Home of the Kentucky Derby," America's oldest continuously held sporting event. This National Historic Landmark sits on 55 acres of the original 694 acre farm established by William and Lucy Clark Croghan in 1790. William Croghan was the brother-in-law and surveying partner of George Rogers Clark, founder of Louisville and Revolutionary War hero. Locust Grove offers educational opportunities about early Kentucky history and life, focusing on the historical character and contributions of George Rogers Clark.
