Replacing the original 17th century fort that was damaged in an earthquake, this rebuilt fort turned museum shows the most relevant moments in Acapulco's history and the important role the fort has played. It is built in a classic five-point design and was constructed by the Spaniards to protect the port of Acapulco and its Manila trade link from pirates.

Hop on a glass bottom boat and head off to Isla la Roqueta, a great place for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and a hike to the hilltop of the island to get a spectacular view of Acapulco Bay. Brave young men dive over 100 feet from La Quebrada's perilous and jagged cliffs, timing their jump to coincide with the incoming waves that cushion their impact and protect them.
